CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR 2010 SPINAL CORD INJURY RESEARCH PROJECTS

DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JULY 26, 2010 DUE TO WEBSITE UNAVAILABILITY

The Manitoba Spinal Cord Injury Research Committee (MSCIRC) is pleased to announce that the 2010 Grants and Awards competition has been expanded. The MSCIRC is now accepting applications for spinal cord injury research projects in Manitoba to fund research personnel that further enable Manitoba researchers to do quality research in the area of SCI in Manitoba.

Purpose
Grants provided through this one-time initiative will be made to a maximum of $100,000 per investigator, in support of research personnel that will enable researchers in Manitoba to develop research grants and high quality proposals.

The goal of this new funding for capacity building for researchers in Manitoba will be to increase the quantity and quality of proposals to be submitted to the MSCIRC Call for Proposals in 2011. The MSCIRC 2011 Call for Proposals will continue to aim to increase understanding of spinal cord function; reduce the disability related to spinal cord injury; increase functional capacity after spinal cord injury; reduce the incidence and effects of secondary complications after spinal cord injury; and increase quality of life and community integration after spinal cord injury.

Eligibility
Grant applications will only be considered from accredited educational institutions, disability related organizations, research institutions or members of hospital staff.

Deadline
All project applications must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on July 16, 2010.
